There are certain resources that we all have access to and some are more precious than others.
I want to talk about one that is non-renewable: time.
Each and every single day we are all given 86 400 seconds to use for whatever we may choose.
We get to choose how much of our time we will give away and how much we will exchange for other commodities such as money, relationships and so on.
Why am I talking about this?
Well, you see, I have learned that giving away time also requires a great amount of something else: energy.
Even having someone do the simplest task for you requires them to spend their precious seconds and their energy.
While I am not suggesting that people don’t ask for help when they need it, I am suggesting that when we ask someone for their time that we need to treat it as the most precious gift they could ever give us. We are being given something that cannot be replaced. There is no price tag attached, although it is extremely valuable and there is most definitely no return policy. It is a gift that I believe should be met with the utmost gratitude.
Another thing I have become increasingly aware of lately is that emptying your time tank on others and not reserving any for the most special person in your life (you) can lead you into a place of negativity. You can become depleted, resentful and frustrated.
What will you choose to do with your 86 400 seconds today?
