Non- renewable Resources

There are certain resources that we all have access to and some are more precious than others.

I want to talk about one that is non-renewable: time.

Each and every single day we are all given 86 400 seconds to use for whatever we may choose.

We get to choose how much of our time we will give away and how much we will exchange for other commodities such as money, relationships and so on.

Why am I talking about this?

Well, you see, I have learned that giving away time also requires a great amount of something else: energy.

Even having someone do the simplest task for you requires them to spend their precious seconds and their energy.

While I am not suggesting that people don’t ask for help when they need it, I am suggesting that when we ask someone for their time that we need to treat it as the most precious gift they could ever give us. We are being given something that cannot be replaced. There is no price tag attached, although it is extremely valuable and there is most definitely no return policy. It is a gift that I believe should be met with the utmost gratitude.

Another thing I have become increasingly aware of lately is that emptying your time tank on others and not reserving any for the most special person in your life (you) can lead you into a place of negativity. You can become depleted, resentful and frustrated.

What will you choose to do with your 86 400 seconds today?

Activate Your Unstoppable Success

By

Do you have a dream in your heart that you want to achieve? Have you reached  a point in your life where you are ready to move forward with passion and  purpose? Do you look at your life and feel like something is missing? Are you  ready to finally excel past the thoughts that are trying to hold you back?

You can decide at this moment that you will have unstoppable success. That  means you are not going to let anyone or anything stand in between you and your  dreams. That means that you are going to work on the dream you have in your mind  and in your heart. And that means you won’t be stopped regardless of what  challenges or obstacles you face.

There comes a time when we all have to make the decision that we have to get  our dreams out of our heads and into reality. And there comes a point in life  where we all must look at where we are at, and where we desire to be, and then  take the necessary faith steps to move forward.

Unfortunately, whether you move toward your dream or not, time does not stand  still. Time is not going to wait on anyone to decide that it is their moment to  live a fulfilled and rewarded life. If you let one day, one month, or one year  pass you by and you are not taking action. That is time you can never get  back.

Yesterday has now become your today, and today will be your tomorrow. So you  can begin to take inspired action today that will empower you to achieve  unstoppable success in your future. You have the power to overcome whatever is  trying to block your goals and dreams. You have to decide in your mind that you  are going to stop thinking about it, and get moving.

There is always going to be some reason in an individual’s mind not to move  forward. Why? Because many people always find a reason to put their dream off  until tomorrow. Not enough money, not enough time, the children are too young,  the children are in college now, they don’t have what it takes, they are too  young, they are too old, they are not smart enough, they are not experienced  enough, they won’t succeed, and the list goes on and on.

And when all of those perceived reasons arise in an individual’s mind he or  she puts their dream off until tomorrow, but sadly tomorrow never comes. Well,  tomorrow comes, but not as it relates to achieving their goals and dreams.

Many people don’t feel like they have what they need to move forward, that is  why it is important to simply start with what you have to work with, and build  upon that. You must refuse to allow anything to stop you from achieving the  dream that is in your heart. It is your moment for unstoppable success, so go  for it like you believe it!

GPS Your Best Life- Are you a Front Seat or Back Seat Driver?

Guest Post: Charmaine Hammond & Debra Kasowski

Are you a front or back seat driver?

You have probably heard phrases like “you are judged by the people you associate with” or “your results I life are a result of the people you choose to have in your life”.  Our lives mirror the people we choose to associate with the most. Who do you associate with…. Front or back seat drivers?

Front seat drivers are people who support others; help them find their way, show patience when there is a detour or a wrong turn, and who offer to share the driving on a long or tiring journey.

Back seat drivers have the potential to drain your passion and deplete your positive energy. Backseat drivers often find fault with or complain about others, tell you what to do, or nitpick at issues. The great news is that you have the power to choose a) which type of driver you will be, and b) who you let in your vehicle on the journey of life.

How can you ensure that you bring more front seat drivers into your life?

  1.  Be conscious of how much time you devote or spend with backseat drivers. Set boundaries, and provide respectful feedback if need    be. The truth is that sometimes people simply don’t realize how they are coming across, or how their behavior is impacting others.
  2.  Demonstrate self awareness and ensure your actions, and attitudes are closely aligned to front seat drivers.
  3. Notice the warning signs. Your body sends signals (such as knots in your gut, a drifting mind to escape the dialogue, discomfort, or a urge to be defensive), this is an opportunity for you to a) notice, and b) choose a response.
  4.  Define, honor and protect your personal space. Make sure that you are open to receiving as well as giving. Allow others to support and assist you, as you are doing for people in your life.
  5.  Practice ways to respectfully end the conversations that you are uncomfortable with.
  6.  Model front seat driver behaviors, you will likely find that front seat drivers stick together.

Forgive yourself and move on. Often when people make mistakes, they turn into their own worst backseat driver… self blame, put downs and making the situation worse. Instead, breathe. And breathe again. And Forgive. This allows you to get back into the front seat with ease, grace, dignity, and new learning.

You will likely notice that being a front seat driver is a much easier way to live life, and reach your goals faster.

27 Daily Affirmations to Boost Self-Esteem and Develop Self-Confidence

By Dr. Camelia Furlan

If you look at any of your problem areas in your life, you’ll probably find they are rooted in faulty and limited beliefs, imbedded deeply in our subconscious mind. Because they are in the subconscious mind, often you are not aware that they are the source of your thoughts and actions.

These negative and dis-empowering beliefs, are the reason our life does not work as well as we would like it to; they are the barriers and blockages that stop us from reaching our full potential.

I believe these are the source of our self-sabotage, and through daily affirmations and declarations we are able to imprint in our mind a new way of thinking, new beliefs that are empowering, boost self-esteem and develop self-confidence.

We are re-programming our subconscious mind through daily repetitions of these affirmations, and remember that every new belief needs time and attention to flourish.

You can’t do these affirmations for a few days and expect to get long-term results… you will have to imprint them daily; repeating and contemplating on each one for at least 5 minutes, for a period of one month or two. Anything less will not succeed.

Affirmations can be used for immediate, short-term results as well, when you want to influence and redirect the thoughts that occur in your conscious mind.

For example, in a situation where you are feeling stressed, tense or upset, you can repeat an affirmation such as, “I feel calm and relaxed. I feel calm and relaxed. I feel calm and relaxed” for a couple of minutes.

Since your conscious mind can only think one thought at a time, you are able to “fill” your mind with thoughts that support you or your goals. You can repeat these anywhere, whilst driving, loud or silently.

One thing to remember is that you don’t necessarily have to believe your affirmations; all you have to do is repeat them.

I have put together 27 of the most powerful affirmations and declarations that I have come across, specifically to boost self-esteem and develop self-confidence.

You can choose to start with the ones that fit you best, and rotate them daily or weekly, whatever is appropriate for you.

Daily affirmations and declarations:

  2. Life is fun and rewarding.
  3. Amazing opportunities exist for me in every aspect of my life.
  4. There are no such things as problems, only opportunities.
  5. I love challenges, they bring out the best in me.
  6. I replace “I must”, “I should” and “I have to” with “I choose”. (try it with something you think you have to do, and replace must with choose… notice the difference?)
  7. I choose to be happy right now. I love my life.
  8. I appreciate everything I have. I live in joy.
  9. I am courageous. I am willing to act in spite of any fear.
  10. I am positive and optimistic. I believe things will always work out for the best.
  11. It’s easy to make friends. I attract positive and kind people into my life.

The Kevlar Must Go

I have been going through my life wearing a shield. One that is not obvious as a shield to you, but I have become increasingly aware of its purpose to me over the last while. To you, this shield looks like excessive weight or obesity.

I have admitted publicly in my book that I have struggled with food. I have had a volatile relationship with it for years. It’s like a crutch for me. When I feel emotionally elevated in any way, positive or negative, I reach for food. Insert ice cream or chocolate. The result of this has been that I have a protective shield of Kevlar on me, providing me with a feeling of safety, security and sometimes a place to hide. If you poke at me with my Kevlar on, you may never get to the core of me.

I have decided that I will defy one more odd in my life. I am going to release the Kevlar. Please, please, this is not an invitation to send me information on your miracle shakes or pills. I do not need them. I have already attempted three times to shed this, each time successfully reaching a goal and learning lessons, only to find myself slipping back. I realize, in reflection, that during each attempt I was in an emotionally different place.

This time, I am stronger mentally and fully ready. I do not need to hide behind anything. These extra pounds will leave me. I will be leaner than I have ever been in my adult life. I will probably be feeling pretty vulnerable on some days; however, it IS time. This excess weight no longer serves me.

This is not an “I decided yesterday thing.” I have been working at this since the beginning of June.

I am armed with a meal plan, a gym, a community and an amazing trainer who has been by my side for four years; with me through the three previous attempts and now (God Bless her).

I will succeed. I will defy the odds. I will be as strong on the outside as I am on the inside.

That is not to say I won’t have slips or stop for my favourite treat. You may even “catch” me doing so.

I am human. A brilliant human who is very aware of the consequences for my choices.

Each day I will move forward toward a bigger goal (which is a bucket list item to be revealed later), remembering that I am worthy of success in all areas of my life, that I deserve to feel good and allow myself space to have treats.

I know I am not alone in this journey, for there are many who have various forms of Kevlar.

I have a challenge for you…

Identify what are you hiding behind and ask: Is it serving you?

Defy the odds and move from it.

I look forward to your comments below.
